Consultant working on a range of community projects, she is a qualified youth and community worker. She has worked for over twenty years as a youth and community worker with young people and adults on a range of projects and initiatives. She has proven experience in working alongside communities securing representative community involvement and participation. Wendy has worked both in the Voluntary and Statutory sectors. She managed a London wide Young Women's Unit and was a Youth Service Manager in Hackney.
Since January 2000 she has worked as a consultant on a range of projects. Examples of projects undertaken include the establishment of a youth crime prevention project through consultation and involvement of local people on an estate in Hackney; researching current provision and unmet needs for the Early Years development and child care audit submitted to the DfES; research on the individual needs of teenage parents in Lambeth including mapping provision, qualitative interviews with teenage parents and grandparents; working with the local community in Lambeth Riverside to establish a community development trust; initial project enhancement in relation to new UK Online centres for Hackney specifically for young people; and research into the needs of vulnerable people in the City Centre of Sheffield including client interviews, mapping of services, a one week monitoring exercise of services and a benchmarking exercise against two other cities.
She has research and analytical skills supporting her role in community development. She has experience in developing tools to support her work and engage with the community. She has strong networking skills and the ability to access relevant information.
Wendy led on community development for Sure Start High Cross in Haringey as a substantial and long-term piece of consultancy work. Within this work she worked with communities to develop inclusion projects for refugees and asylum seekers. She also managed the larger community development contract across the Sure Start Haringey programmes and piloted a community chest programme allocating £110k to community groups.
Wendy is an associate consultant for the Community Development Foundation, National Youth Agency and Participation Works. Wendy brings a rich and diverse experience to projects she manages or undertakes on behalf of WSA Community Consultants.
