Kid City Funding Success

Innovative London play project Kid City commissioned WSA Community Consultants to help them expand their funding base.  They wanted to develop more projects for children with disabilities and their families.  The collaboration has resulted in Kid City securing over £80,000 of new funding.   Sources include Children in Need, Awards for All and Help a London Child.

As a result more children can be helped 1-to-1 with their communication, social and interactive skills, and families and carers will benefit from an inclusive holiday play scheme and a parent-led project focussing on emotional and practical support.

WSA Community Consultants supported staff by helping them to develop their fundraising, report writing and multi-project management skills, as well as financial and monitoring systems.  We are now assisting the charity in developing a sustainable funding strategy for their core services.

The project works with over 150 disabled children and their families in the London Borough of Haringey each year, running educational workshops, drop-ins, holiday play schemes and ongoing play activities. They use sensory materials, music therapy, drama and art therapy to engage with children, who are aged 0 to 5.

The partnership between WSA Community Consultants and Kid City started in 2006 and continues to develop.
