Can Do Investment Funds, London Pilot
WSA Community Consultants were commissioned by the Scarman Trust, London Region to pilot three Can Do Investment Funds (CDIF) in London.
A CDIF is a community held pot of money where community members can apply for funding for projects of community benefit. The main role of WSA Community Consultants was to offer support, coaching and guidance to the three community anchors participating and this was done through:
- Training of community panels including setting local priorities using The Scarman Trusts Asset Based Community Development approach
- one to one support
- an action learning group
- development of application materials
- development of grant giving guidance
- Support and coaching to each panel at allocation meetings
- Exploration of potential for reinvestment
- A full evaluation report on the pilots with all the related materials was produced and is available to other groups considering a Can Do Investment Fund style approach.
